Pest Control FAQ’s Pest Control FAQ’s are sometimes forgotten prior to your pest control manager coming to your home.  And its only once you get off the phone that you thought I should of asked this question.

Below are some of the questions that we get asked regularly, should you have other questions to ask please don’t hesitate to call Bob on 0407 065 413.  Bob is only too happy to answer all of your pest related questions.

How do I know if I have bed bugs?

Believe me you will know you have bed bugs there will be no guessing, as you will have small itchy raised welts.  There are some people that will have a reaction to the bites and depending on the reaction may need to seek medical attention.

I can hear thud noises from the ceiling what could it be?

It could be that you have a possum or possums in your roof and as they are nocturnal they come to life at night when they are feeding, fighting or mating.  Possums are a protected animal, you are not able to kill them and you will require a license to trap them.

You can also have a pest expert out to trap the possum and before release seal the entry where he is getting in before releasing the possum on the boundaries of your property.

I can see cockroach droppings what can I do?

Firstly you can do the simple things first and take away the cockroach’s food and water source.  This will entail wiping all surfaces down before you go to bed, sweep floors and fix leaky taps.  Ensure all foodstuffs are in sealed bags or jars.

Cockroaches usually come out in the dark of night to feed, if you are seeing these pests during the day you will no doubt have a pest infestation and you will need to call a pest control manager asap to eradicate the cockroaches immediately.

Pest Control FAQ’s I have noticed there are holes in the garden bed with a tunnel – should I worry?

If you are in the garden it is best practice to wear long pants with gardening gloves.  If you disturb a spider they may either bite you or a child if they are disturbed.

Funnel web spiders (females) normally live in similar holes in the ground like you have described.  This type of pest job is best left to the pest control technician who are trained to treat these types of pests.

I am buying a new home do I need to have a termite report?

Most certainly you would need a termite report, why would you not get one done, as the damage that the termite can cause is astronomical compared to the small price of a termite inspection.

Many a sale has fallen through when termites are discovered, as people are normally aware that insurance does not cover termite damage.

What can I do to prepare for a general pest inspection?

That is a good question, for easy access we ask that the pest control van can park the car in the driveway, pick up any clothes off the floor and while we treat the outside keep all pets indoors.  Ensure all toys are picked up in the yard.  For best results cut the lawn if you have the time.

I have an asthmatic child can she stays while you spray?

Our treatments are low nontoxic and the best advice is to keep her away from the home while we are working for at least 3 hours and overnight if possible as to not take the chance to trigger an attack.

Does your treatments stain carpets?

No they won’t the treatments are water based and will not affect the colouring in the carpet.

I hate spiders will you guarantee that they won’t be back?

Unfortunately there is no guarantee with spiders as the spiderlings are air borne and will float in the air.
